Terms of Service

Acceptance

The Service is operated by Machine Republic (Pty) Ltd ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

If you're using the Service on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.

Your account

You need a valid email address to create an account. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secret and for everything that happens under your account.

Tell us straight away if you suspect unauthorised access. We can suspend an account if we have reasonable grounds to believe it's been compromised.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Upload or share content that's illegal, infringing, malicious, or that violates someone else's rights.
• Use the Service to send unsolicited bulk messages or to phish, scam, or impersonate anyone.
• Probe, scan, or test the Service's security without our written permission, or interfere with its operation.
• Reverse-engineer, scrape at scale, or use automated systems to access the Service in ways that aren't documented.
• Resell, sublicense, or repackage the Service as your own product.

We can remove content or suspend accounts that violate these rules.

Plans, billing, and taxes

Machine Republic (Pty) Ltd offers a free plan and paid plans. Paid subscriptions are billed in advance, monthly or annually, through Paddle, our Merchant of Record. Paddle handles payment processing, sales tax, and VAT/GST for your jurisdiction.

Prices listed on the pricing page are in USD unless stated otherwise. Local taxes may be added at checkout.

We may change pricing for new sign-ups at any time. Existing subscriptions keep their current price until the next renewal; we'll give at least 30 days' notice before any price change to your subscription.

Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel your subscription any time from the Billing page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period - you keep paid features until then, after which you drop to the Free plan.

If something genuinely doesn't work for you within 14 days of a paid plan starting, email us at support@craaft.io and we'll refund you. After 14 days, cancellations stop future charges but past periods aren't refunded.

If we materially decrease the features available on your paid plan and you cancel within 30 days as a result, we'll prorate a refund for the unused portion of your current period.

Your content

You keep all rights to the content you add to the Service - cards, comments, attachments, project structures.

You grant Machine Republic (Pty) Ltd a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to host, store, transmit, and display your content solely so we can operate and improve the Service for you. We don't use your content to train AI models, sell it, or share it with advertisers.

If you mark a board as publicly shareable, anyone with the share link can view that board read-only until you revoke the link. That's the whole point of the feature - just be deliberate about what you share.

Data export and deletion

You can export every project you own as JSON from the in-app Settings page. Exports include cards, columns, descriptions, comments, and metadata.

You can delete a project, a card, or your entire account at any time. Deleting your account removes your personal data within 30 days from primary storage, and from backups within 90 days. Some records (e.g. invoices) are retained as long as required by tax law - typically 7 years.

Our intellectual property

The Service - including the craaft name, logo, software, design, and documentation - is owned by us and protected by copyright and other laws. These Terms don't transfer any of that to you. You can refer to craaft in your own materials descriptively (e.g. "we use craaft"), but you can't use our marks in a way that suggests endorsement without our written permission.

Termination

You can stop using the Service any time. We can suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms, if your account creates a risk to the Service or other users, or if we're required to by law.

On termination by us for cause, we'll give you at least 30 days to export your data unless we're prevented by law or unless the breach itself involves our data, security, or other users' rights.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the maximum extent permitted by law. We don't warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet your specific requirements.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Machine Republic (Pty) Ltd's total liability arising out of or related to these Terms is limited to the amount you've paid us in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or US$100, whichever is greater.

We're not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenues, data, or goodwill.

Some jurisdictions don't allow these limitations. Where they don't, they apply to the maximum extent permitted in your jurisdiction.

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold Machine Republic (Pty) Ltd harmless from claims, damages, and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your use of the Service in breach of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where Machine Republic (Pty) Ltd is established, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction. If you're a consumer, this doesn't override mandatory rights you have under your local law.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms occasionally. If a change is material - for example, it affects your rights or how we charge - we'll give at least 30 days' notice by email or in-app banner before the new Terms take effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the new Terms.
